Bahamas Entry Fees Change. Again.

Once again the customs/entry fees for boaters visiting the Bahamas have changed. The fees are now:

>>  $150 for boats 35 foot and under <<

>> $300 for boats over 35 foot <<

However, due to outcry from the boating community, the fees have been amended such that they now cover two (2) entries into the Bahamas in any one 90 day period. This change is now in effect for 2004.

However, this recent change doesn't affect the actual dollar fees, which used to be a flat $100 for all boats regardless of size. Many feel the new fees are just too much, especially for weekend boaters who make frequent short trips to Bimini, Walkers Cay, West End etc.

We urge you to write to write to the Bahamas and make your feelings known. The government is still reviewing this issue to determine a new fee structure for 2005.
