Advice: Directions from Bimini back to the U.S.
1 Head out of Bimini harbor.
2 Hang a right.
3 Aim for North America.
Advice I'm fairly certain that no one has ever lain on their deathbed and wished they'd worked more and fished less.
Joke How many Bahamians does it take to clean a fish?
Six. One to clean it and 5 to stand around drinking beer.
As told to the author by a local as the two stood around drinking beer while watching a man clean fish. |

When I imagine the carefree life cruising the islands, this is the image that comes to mind. Aptly named the Dream Weaver. Lovely.
Just another beautiful sunset looking west from Radio Beach in Alice Town.
Picture 1 of 3 - Chalks seaplane coming in for a landing near "Local's Cut". I make no apologies, I've always been fascinated by seaplanes.
Chalks - Picture 2 of 3
Chalks - Picture 3 of 3. At take-off the plane taxis down the ramp and onto the water. The old hotel in the background is the first thing you see as you enter Bimini Harbor. Only in Bimini can a hotel on prime waterfront remain derelict for decades...
A nice SeaVee running against the color change. Pretty much screams "Bimini Run!"
Shouldn't everyone have these sunsets on a regular basis? Radio Beach looking west.
Spook Hill Beach and the pine walkway.
Radio Beach with the typical later afternoon, golden glow. Lighting courtesy of the Sun.

Did you know? Ernest Hemingway was a founding member of the IGFA and helped write many of its rules. He was Vice President of the organization until his death by suicide in Ketchum Idaho.
Did you know? Almost 100 fishing world records have been set in Bimini.
None were set by the author.
Factoid Bimini is home to about 1,700 Bahamians, known as Biminites. Most live in Alice Town or just north in Bailey Town / Porgy Bay.
Did you know? Ponce DeLeon visited Bimini while on his quest for the Fountain of Youth. But seeing that he's still very dead, draw your own conclusion as to whether he found it.
Island History For most of Bimini's history, children had to go away to Nassau or Freeport for schooling. There were no schools on the island.
